ABOUT ME:
The Berlin-based art/fashion label ‚kimberit’ by the designer Kim Berit Heppelmann performs non-seasonal and understands clothing as an artistic medium – dressmaking as the architecture of movement.
This is reflected not only in her collections but also by performances and exhibitions. Last year she collaborated with two artists on a performance in which the garments should reflect the act of marriage.
The unique style of kimberit is a result of a conceptual approach followed by an experimental design process. Strong silhouettes with emphasis on structure, shape and form seem to spring from their own world and get fabricated at the highest stage using noblest material.
The collection Écouture – “The Dynamic of a Dress” already received several international awards.
In 2009 kimberit made it to the final round at Berlin’s ‘CREATEUROPE’ organized by the Goethe Institute, was nominated for the ‘COLOGNE CAT WALK’ in Cologne and won the New York ‘Styles 2009 Competition’ as part of ‘GENART’.
In April 2010 during the red-carpet-event of the ‘Deutscher Filmpreis’ the actress Katharina Schüttler was wearing a dress of the kimberit collection.
From over more than 100 candidatures kimberit got nominated into Top 10 of
"Start your Fashion Business". A contest organised and promoted by the Berlin
senate office for Economy, Technology and Women.
During last Berlin Fashion Week in July’10 the collection Écouture – “The Dynamic of a Dress” was shown within the exhibition ‘Frozen’. In this exhibition "The Dynamic of a Dress" is installed "Frozen" in time and space.
The new kimberit ‘Ready-To-Wear Line’ Komment. was launched by Temporary Showroom also during Berlin Fashion Week in July’10. This line has to be regarded as a comment on every new kimberit High Fashion collection. It will be available from March 2011.
