Vienna Zine Fair
“Take Media into your own hands” is the title of the Vienna Zine Fair curated by Rita Vitorelli and Cathérine Hug (on 18th September in the foyer of the Kunsthalle Wien).
This sentence places itself between an imperative and a manifesto of the European DIY printed matter scene.
Considering the over production of creative content in recent years and in accordance with the hyper fast way we consume images, illustrations and graphics in the tumblr (to pick one) era, creativity is now shifting from making things to selecting, organizing and attributing value to the things that surround us.
Fanzine is the easiest way to achieve this goal.
At the Kunsthalle you will find a selection of almost fifty young producers selling and exchanging printed zines, from the fanciest zine distributor ever (Motto) to the guy whose video animations became famous throughout the internet (Blu).
